So if you know me personally, you would understand that this seems a little cray-cray. That I would sell skincare.
This was one of my first objections when looking into the business of Rodan + Fields ahead of it’s launch into Australia. I used to wash my face with bicarb soda and moisturise with coconut oil…and here I am toying with the idea of selling dermatological-grade skincare. Interesting.
Let me tell you what made me say “YES!”. Firstly, once I looked into the business of Rodan + Fields I immediately saw that this was a way for my family to break the cycle of living wage to wage. I knew that if we didn’t change something up, this would still be our situation in 10 years time.
I learnt that Rodan + Fields don’t expect me to be a skincare chick at all! They have specifically designed tools for me to use with my customers to address their skin concerns and highlight the products that would achieve their desired results. Not only that, the incredible community, training, support and educational options I could plug into.
I was impressed that Rodan + Fields only expected me to wash my face with their products….a HEAP better than all natural bicarb soda and coconut oil 😉 They knew that if I used their products on my skin, I would be hooked. And I am! I would then naturally want to recommend their products in the same way that I recommended to my friends to watch MKR, The Block and head down to Shotgun for the best coffee in town. Of course I wasn’t paid for those glowing recommendations, but it was a natural effect from having an awesome experience that I want others to have too. It just so happens that Rodan + Fields are prepared to pay ME instead of the advertising companies and shop front costs.
So, yes I find it funny that my future is in skincare. I never EVER saw that coming! But I don’t find it funny that Rodan + Fields can help me design a life for my family where we can choose how to live, work, parent and play…and help others achieve that as well. THAT is serious business!
