Today was the first day back for Kirk after 6 weeks off on glorious school holidays. I know, I know. We are so blessed to have those holidays together as a family, but the first day back is always hard. We’ve gotten into a bit of a lovely routine the three of us, and now we are back to a day full of just the two of us and daddy at work an hour away.
So to pass the time (mainly for me 😉 ) and brighten our day, we whipped out some craft! I had a heap of stuff in our art cupboard, some craft glue, old cardboard and a keen 2.5 year old. I taught Prep (4, 5, 6 year olds) for 10 years so love this kind of thing! I have a cupboard full of bits and pieces that I have been collecting to one day do crafty things with my boy. Too bad if he isn’t into craft. I’ll have to steal someone else’s kids to fulfill my need for kiddy art fun!
I started off showing him how to put the glue on the back of his paper and then sticking it on the cardboard background, but realised that it was probably more efficient and way more fun for both of us if I just assisted the smearing of glue all over the cardboard and he sticks it all down himself.
He really loved it besides his expression of seemingly disgust in the last photo. Promise.
